1st African Conference on Health Effects of Endocrine Disruptors: Challenges and Opportunities

Environmental Chemical Pollution and Health Research Unit, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Pretoria, South Africa

The Scientific Committee has put together a comprehensive programme comprising of a number of well-known international and local experts in the field of endocrine disruption. The programme will feature a range of topics that will address the current state, knowledge gaps and new information on human, animal and environmental exposures, related health effects and biological screening for endocrine disruption.

The reason we have used the baobab tree in our conference logo is because in Africa it is known as the “Tree of Life", where in ancient times and today community elders and leaders hold meetings to discuss matters of great importance. Not only do these trees provide shelter, but the tribal leaders also believe that the spirit of the baobab helps them make wise decisions.

With this in mind I would like to extend an invitation to you all to join us under the baobab tree for a unique meeting to learn, discuss challenges and explore opportunities in this growing field of research.
